The Sewing Project 2025– 2026
Our friends in AEERTPS informed BTFT – ‘The village of Téréli faces significant socio-economic challenges, including youth unemployment, rural exodus and lack of vocational training. As part of efforts to promote the economic empowerment of youth and women, this project to create a sewing centre, was initiated to address the need for vocational training and reduce unemployment. This centre aims to offer skills-based training in sewing and income– generating activities.‘
Work began on December 13th
making the bricks
construction of the foundations
the erection of the walls
completing the sewing centre
constructing toilets
The main problem encountered was lack of materials and equipment due to transport trucks being stopped because of fuel shortages.
The building was ready and training started 29th April 2026. Eight treadle sewing machines and accessories were bought. There are two trainers for the sewing project.
In September 2026 we heard from Maza – ‘Certificates were presented to the men and women who completed the tailoring and sewing training. The training has been a resounding success among the local population, who expressed their deep gratitude to the BTFT.
They send you nothing but blessings! May God grant you a long life and good health.‘
